Diego Boneta
Biography
Diego Andrés González Boneta was born in Mexico City, Mexico, to engineers Lauro Andrés González Lima and Astrid Boneta López. His father is Mexican, and his mother was born in the U.S., to a Puerto Rican father and a Spanish mother. Diego began his career at the age of 12 when he participated in “Codigo Fama,” a children’s singing reality series in Mexico. Diego was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2006 MTV Awards Latin America as well as the Best Solo Singer at the MTV Awards Latin America in 2008. Boneta was named Cinemacon (formerly Showest) Rising Star of 2012 and won the ALMA Award for Best Male Actor. He was recently named one of US Weekly’s “12 Breakout Stars of 2012” and awarded GQ Latin America “Actor of the Year.” Earlier this year Diego starred in Rock of Ages (2012), as “Drew” for Adam Shankman and New Line Cinema, which was distributed through Warner Brothers in June. The film’s cast included Julianne Hough, Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Mary J Blige, Catherine Zeta Jones and Paul Giamatti. Rock of Ages was also recently received a Grammy nomination for “Best Soundtrack.” Diego starred in creator Craig Wright’s MTV show Underemployed. Previously, he had recurring roles on ABC Family’s hit series Pretty Little Liars and on CW’s 90210. Diego has been featured in the publications InStyle, Cosmo, Elle, Details, and Esquire Magazine.
